Shadowed Icons

If you know me, you know that I am obsessed with the 90s. So when I saw that musicians20in20 was having a special round featuring 90s singers/groups, I had to take part in it. The good majority of these are my main loves, Backstreet Boys. <3. Also for most of them, I did a sort of summer theme. #11 was a sort of remake of an icon that I had made forever ago that still lives in my userpics.

I am happy with maybe half of these. My goal for June is to read a bunch of tutorials that I have bookmarked but haven't had the time to read. Time for some new techniques!

I have not made Disney icons in FOREVER but I got the urge to do so, so I signed up for the first time at disneykrumkakes. Luckily the round was extended so that I was able to get my set done. I chose my favorite Disney male character ever, Kronk!!

My first 'real' post of 2016! I am hoping to expand a bit on my icon skills this year by reading tutorials since it has been a really long time since I have taken the time to do so. I am also uploading my icons (for now) here on LJ instead of on Photobucket since they are such a pain about saving images on Firefox. We'll see if I stick to it. I have only ever used Photobucket so it's an adjustment having to copy and paste it all instead of editing the urls from previous posts.

For 'Unpack Your Heart' - I was inspired by the colors and the lyrics Throw all of it out on the floor.

I claimed Riley Matthews from Girl Meets World over at character20n20. I know I am WAY too old for the show but I adore the show. I have watched it since the pilot and I highly recommend it. I thought it would be fun to icon Riley as I think she is just way too freaking adorable (and my favorite on the show) & it was someone new to icon.

Overall I am satisfied with this set although I know my cropping needs a bit more variety (my genius self saved all the caps I found in their bigger thumb size instead of the full size of the cap..so it was a bit hard to do creative cropping).

A couple of notes for 'favorite feature'- I could not find a proper cap of her hair in it's glory without people in my way, lol. So I did my best. For 'times three' - I did black & white, levels, and text (I had to do the Feeny call..it's such a good moment!).

I got inspired to do a set for character20n20 and I chose Buffy Summers as my subject. I am clearly rusty at making icons these days but I was played around a bit. The themes were pretty challenging (faceblock in particular. Not good at doing shadows, lol) but it was fun. Perhaps I'll get back into this properly. It's been years. :)
