My first 'real' post of 2016! I am hoping to expand a bit on my icon skills this year by reading tutorials since it has been a really long time since I have taken the time to do so. I am also uploading my icons (for now) here on LJ instead of on Photobucket since they are such a pain about saving images on Firefox. We'll see if I stick to it. I have only ever used Photobucket so it's an adjustment having to copy and paste it all instead of editing the urls from previous posts.

Anyways, I claimed Buffy Summers over at btvsats20in20.

I've been loading my icons more often to LJ instead of Photobucket, because PB can be such a pain when it develops glitches, but it's still pretty infrequently when I remember to. OTOH, I've gotten in the habit of loading all my posters/banners to scrapbook unless it's too large and won't display the full size image (anything over 1000 pixels I think.) Let us know how that works out for you!

BTW, can you explain what exactly "hot linking" means in plain English? I fear I may have done it without intending to.

Now back to the subject at hand - this is a FABULOUS set, I'm so glad you got it finished in time! There can never be too many good icons of our beloved Miss Summers in this world (so says I) and these are wonderfully subtle, not flashy; they reward repeat viewings. Several of these are fantastically clever and witty (Provided Texture), and although some use familiar images several of these I've not seen as icons before and even the familiar images look very fresh.

Personal favorites: Close Crop, BW + close, Provided Texture - you picked the PERFECT episode and image for that texture and the tree is so well integrated I wouldn't notice it if I weren't specifically looking, Peaceful (again the perfect image but OUCH....), Category 1 and 3 - again, I love how subtly you interpreted the prompt; AC4 and 5, Alt 22. WELL DONE!

PB really is a big pain in the butt. I have to use IE in order to save icons for my communities voting. I like my Firefox so I hate having to switch just because PB decided it was high maintenance. Thank you for the heads up with it not liking higher pixels. I haven't made anything big in awhile (I stink at wallpapers) but that is good info.

Hot linking is just copying the link of the icon and reposting it instead of saving it and uploading it to your own server. It's not a huge issue on LJ anymore, at least that I have noticed, but I keep it as a rule just in case. It became a big issue because people would repost say a pb link and pb would decide that that user used all their bandwidth allowed and none of the icons uploaded to that user's pb would be able to be viewed until the bandwidth allotment reset.

Thank you so much! I was having a tough time getting inspiration but after a bit, it finally flowed out. I really don't like Buffy/Angel but as soon as I saw that provided texture, I knew what I had to use for it, so thank you. Haha, sorry about the peaceful! Buffy doesn't seem at ease a lot of time and I asked a friend what she thought and she suggested her death since she was at peace then. Little drastic but it works. Thanks for the lovely feedback!

I really love close crop, pastel, b&w + quote, provided texture (nicely done), light texture, all the Cats (I love how you have a gradient from the dark gold to the dark silver), and AC 1, 3 & 4 :)
